As it’s Christmas, or at least, Christmas is coming, I thought I’d get into the Christmas spirit and give away some really helpful tips on securing yourself a cheap cruise.
Tip number 1:
To get the Cheapest Cruise price you need to understand how the system works. During the peak booking season, January to April, most of the best cruises are sold, for the highest prices. This leaves 2 cheap cruise booking points, either when cruise agents and cruise operators are quiet, November and December, or leaving it to the last minute. Both work well, of course I find it’s nice to know where you’re going so you can brag to your friends…

Tip number 2:
Don’t go direct to the Cruise Operator. The way cruises are marketed, cheap cruises in particular, is just like every other business or product, supply and demand and bulk buying power. The larger cruise agents buy up cabins on the most sought after cruises, Royal Caribbean in particular, and then sell them throughout the year, at a discounted price over the cruise company, but enough to make a profit.

Tip number 3:
Ask for Free Stuff. Don’t be shy, if you’re booking with a cruise agent make sure you ask if they have any promotional freebies they can offer you to help make the price seem that bit more justifiable. You’d be amazed, many of the cruise operators give the cruise agents incentives to help them sell more cheap cruises.
Incentives such as, on-board spending money, free excursions, cabin upgrades.

Tip number 4:
Choose an ABTA / ATOL protected agent such as Cruie Direct and make sure you pay using a credit card, if you can. This makes the credit card company liable, just in case anything goes wrong. Cruise lines have been known to go bankrupt.

I have booked several cruises, and my faourite cruise line is Royal Caribbean. I know, they aren’t the cheapest cruise company, but they do offer an unrivaled service.
